 Jesus told stories to reveal and conceal, to challenge conventional viewpoints and to point the way to the Kingdom of God.  We'll start by looking at parables and word pictures in the Old Testament and the cultural setting of Jesus times.  We'll move through  Jesus' Parables in chronological order, using the Parables to also gain a deeper understanding of their Gospel settings.  The last class will be a review of the Gospel of John, and discuss why John chose not to use parables in his Gospel.
